Was It the Walrus

SHOWCASE:
fri mar 15, 12aM

Was It the Walrus, a pop-alternative rock band from Toronto, Ontario that write irresistibly catchy, riff-heavy songs, dripping with energy and wrapped in the essence of mid 90’s indie rock with a touch of punk.

High-on-life, and ambitious-as-hell, these guys spent the past year quickly gaining a reputation for their rambunctious live shows complete with explosive gang vocals, airtight hooks, and unbridled enthusiasm. They love to have fun!

Lead vocalist and songwriter, Jason Norris started plotting the beginnings of the band back in 2006 but it wasn't until 2015 when lifelong friend and bass player Alex Bussieres came along, that the band was reborn. Since then, Was It the Walrus has worked hard and are ready to take the music scene with confidence and tenacity. The band performed as a headliner in the Burlington Sound of Music Festival Club Series and successfully packed the venue with more spectators than it had ever previously seen. In august, 2016 the band has been recognized as one of the Top 10 Finalists for “Best Local Band” by the 2016 Hamilton Spectator Readers Choice Awards from a list of nearly 265 nominees. They packed the house at Indie Week in Toronto and are poised for a big year in 2019, kicking things off at The Bout!

The band recently added a new drummer and are currently working on their 2nd album with renowned Canadian producer Gus Van Go. A release date will be announced later this year. Was it the Walrus will be touring Eastern Canada this summer.
