BIG FURRY TRACTOR - PRINCESS MARGARET FUNDRAISER

Friends Friends Friends!!! I’m calling on your help. I am your friend, Robert Haley. In July 2018, I was diagnosed with a rare type of Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. I have started treatment this May which is ongoing for 6 months. Here is where you come in. My cover band Big Furry Tractor, who I battle it out with in the trenches of Wrawk any given weekend, is hosting a benefit fundraiser for Princess Margaret Hospital and also for a family friend who is struggling with Hodgkins Lymphoma on Thursday, July 4th at The Hideout in Toronto! I have created a Go Fund Me campaign to raise and split funds for my friend Michelle Higgins. She has been battling cancer for several years. Michelle has just recently undergone a Stem Cell transplant at Princess Margaret. This has been a huge stress on Michelle and her family as well as a financial strain. I would love to see some of this burden lifted from this family. The other 50% of funds raised will be presented to Princess Margaret Hospital in the hopes to help other fighters. Aside from the Go Fund Me route, we will also be collecting cash donations at the venue on the evening of Thursday July 4th. By giving to this cause, you are giving to me a great gift! Big Furry Tractor will be playing 3 sets, your faves from Bowie, Radiohead, The Black Keys, The Cars, Depeche Mode Etc.

With an impressive gift for crafting songs that are melodically infectious, Shawn Brady’s musicality is matched only by his insightfully deep, heart-felt and intelligent lyrical virtuosity. Brady made inroads as a recording artist with his debut album ‘Electric Blood’ (2011). Produced by Juno-nominee Cory Tetford, the album received rave reviews and airplay across Canada and the United States. His latest album, ‘Broken Traffic Lights’ (2014), is a remarkable evolution and treats the listener to song textures that embrace the dramatic potency of Muse and and The Killers, while mixing elements of 1980s darlings Ultravox, Depeche Mode, The Cure and U2. Brady thrives in the live environment and for more than a decade he has played the part of “Bono” in the world’s most successful U2 tribute show. He has performed over a thousand shows around the world (15 countries to be exact) in front of audiences sometimes in excess of 10,000 people. All of this not only taught him some valuable lessons of stagecraft and professionalism but also in connecting with audiences on an emotional level. Those skills, combined with working alongside grammy-nominated producer star Dave Cobb (Waylon Jennings, Lindi Ortega, Jason Isbell, Rival Sons and Sturgill Simpson) also contributed to the solidity, authenticity and outstanding cohesion of the ‘Broken Traffic Lights’ album. “He is a sound sculptor and wants to create whatever the Shawn Brady sound is. When I was looking for a producer I wanted someone who had not only credibility but also who had done work that was versatile. He is very much a musician’s producer in terms of really getting into the whole process, not just from a sonic standpoint bit from a writing and arranging perspective. And that excited me because I really want to continue to learn as a writer and recording artist.” And with the incredible elegance, passion and energy conveyed on ‘Broken Traffic Lights, it appears Shawn Brady has learned his lessons well.
